MedXPress

The FAA's MedXPress is designed to expedite the processing of a pilot's request for certification and shorten the pilot's office visit with the Aviation Medical Examiner (AME).

What is MedXPress?

FAA MedXPress is a web application pilots must use to submit their certification applicant information for the FAA Form 8500-8. You’ll need a valid e-mail address to create a MedXPress account to use FAA MedXPress.

To obtain a medical certificate, you need to be examined by an FAA-designated Aviation Medical Examiner. Follow these steps to apply for and receive your certificate prior to your appointment with NH FLIGHT MD:

  1. Complete and submit the MedXPress application for FAA Form 8500-8.

  2. Schedule an appointment with an AME, such as NH FLIGHT MD.

  3. Contact us with your MedXPress number the day before your appointment.

  4. If you have any medical conditions or take medication, contact us before your appointment to find out which medical records you should bring.

  5. During your appointment, we will conduct the medical examination and finish the remaining sections of the FAA application. If you meet the medical standards, we will issue your medical certificate.

How to Create an Account

Go to the FAA MedXPress website at https://medxpress.faa.gov.

For first-time users:

  • Click on "Request Account" and fill out the online form, providing your name and e-mail address. Your e-mail address will serve as your username when logging in to MedXPress.

  • You’ll be prompted to answer three security questions, which will help verify your identity if you forget your password or need account assistance.

  • After submitting the form, you’ll receive your initial password and further instructions at the e-mail address you provided.

Important: Do not use someone else’s MedXPress account to enter your information. Each applicant must create their own account, and only one account is allowed per e-mail address.

Application & Confirmation Number

After logging in to MedXPress, you'll see the medical application form. Complete the form and, when finished, follow the prompts to submit your application.

Once successfully submitted, MedXPress will assign a confirmation number to your application. You’ll need to provide this number to your AME so that we can review your medical information in advance of your appointment. Please bring the confirmation number with you to your exam as well.

You have 60 days to schedule and complete a physical examination with an AME. If the examination is not completed within 60 days, your application will be automatically deleted.
